考试时自我介绍的时间很短的，你只要介绍你叫什么名字，再加两句，如I am great hornored and excited to communicate with all of you.或者再加一句自己的兴趣爱好，in my spare time, i have some hobbies,such as ike making friends,some sports,and learning english.really hope we can become good friends after this communication because we have the same interest.就可以了。当然，你要视现场情况而定，有的只需要你介绍自己的名字和admission number.此环节尽量集中注意力去听别人的话，尤其是别人的名字，在你讨论的时候，你会用到别人的名字的。
其次，在第二个环节，有部分时间做准备，此时你要理清话题思路，自己在大脑里总结话题的框架，这样在表达自己的观点时，条理比较清晰；千万不要把时间浪费在自己应该怎样表达一下句子。因为在考试的时候，考官是一下就能听出你是背句子还是在说句子，说句子的水平一定会比背句子的水平高。你只要想好了大体的框架，该你发言时，你只要把自己想说一些句子添加进去就可以，这样就会显得你说的很有条理，清晰。另外，如果你不是第一个发言，你可以抽时间去整理自己的思路，而没有很大必要去听别人的言论。然后就是讨论，讨论是要注意，自己不能一直说，也不能不说，保持一个平衡，当然反对或赞同别人的观点时都可以，但反对观点时，一定要客气，千万别和打架似的，这样才会给考官好印象。
再次，在第三个环节，考官会问你几个问题，此时一定要听清老师的句子，尽量别让老师重复他所说的，否则会让老师感觉很不爽快。回答时，也是遵循一定条理的，在问的时候，问题都是和第二部分相关的，你可以整理一下第二部分的思路。
